Houston Foursquare Lists

Welcome to Urban Houstonian’s collection of Foursquare Lists. Houston’s a big place, and it can be a bit daunting. Knowing where to go, and what to do is sometimes harder than it is in other cities. These lists feature a number of local favorites. They may not necessarily be the best places in Houston, but they are definitely part of what makes this a great city. Whether you’re visiting or a local still trying to find their way, these lists are a great way to discover Houston, Texas.

Houston Skyline

My goal is to create a limited number of high quality options for people living or visiting Houston to enjoy. Most people simply don’t know a lot about Houston, and negative opinions, oftentimes, fill that void. My hope is if I can show more people what I know is great about Houston, those negative opinions won’t have a place to live anymore.

Walk in the Park

If you want to see the soul of a city, you should walk around its parks. From New York’s Central to Chicago’s Millennium, parks tell a lot about the cities they call home. The parks on this list include a green space larger than Central Park (Memorial) to a park (Hermann) that, according to Bob Hope, was part of the greatest view in the world.

Overture, Curtain, Lights

Depending on who you ask, Houston’s Theater District is the second or third largest theater complex in the country behind Broadway and (maybe) Chicago. The four performance venues in the Theater District are, in the order they were constructed, Jones Hall, Alley Theatre, Wortham Center and Hobby Center. You will get the more out of this particular trip if you check in while attending performances at each venue.
